Terms of Service

By using Mentor Florida’s website and services, you signify that you have read, understand, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use.

Item The Mentoring Connector is a service provided by MENTOR National and not by Mentor Florida. By registering a Mentoring Organization to be included in the Mentoring Connector, you certify that:
(a) You represent a legitimate Mentoring Organization that provides guidance, support, and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of children.
(b) Neither you nor any representative of your organization has committed any crime against a minor, including child abuse, sexual acts, or involvement with pornography.
(c) You will not use Mentor Florida’s services, website, or your program to harm a minor in any way.
(d) You understand that Mentor Florida strongly encourages the screening of volunteers, and you and the Mentoring Organization you represent are solely responsible for screening volunteers, conducting background checks, and taking reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of children and other volunteers.
(e) You and the Mentoring Organization you represent are responsible for determining whether an applicant is fit to serve as a mentor, and inclusion in the Mentoring Connector is not guaranteed.
(f) You acknowledge that Mentor Florida makes no representations or warranties regarding the conduct of volunteers or their compatibility with any programs.
(g) You understand that the registration system for the Mentoring Connector is an embedded service provided by MENTOR National. Mentor Florida does not directly manage or control the registration process and is not responsible for any issues arising from it.

The Mentoring Connector is a service provided by MENTOR National and not by Mentor Florida. By using the Mentoring Connector to identify and contact a Mentoring Organization to serve as a volunteer and/or mentor, you certify that:
(a) You have a legitimate interest in providing guidance, support, and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of children.
(b) You have not committed any crime against a minor, including child abuse, sexual acts, or involvement with pornography.
(c) You will not use Mentor Florida’s services, website, or any associated program to harm a minor in any way.
(d) You understand that you will be subject to any screening required by the Mentoring Organization(s) you express interest in, which may include background checks and other inquiries.
(e) You acknowledge that Mentor Florida does not manage or guarantee your acceptance into any Mentoring Organization; such decisions are made solely by the individual Mentoring Organizations.
(f) You understand that Mentor Florida makes no representations or warranties regarding the conduct of other volunteers, Mentoring Organizations, or their members.
(g) It is your sole responsibility to inquire into the practices, policies, and nature of any Mentoring Organization and to take reasonable precautions in all interactions with members of that organization, including children.
(h) You agree to act in alignment with the objectives of the Mentoring Organization you are applying to and will not engage in any activities that could harm the organization, the children it serves, or its mission.
(i) You will accurately represent your identity, skills, and background in your application and all related communications.

The Mentoring Connector is a service provided by MENTOR National and not by Mentor Florida. You agree that no confidential or special relationship is or should be formed by your use of Mentor Florida’s website or the information contained on the website.
Mentor Florida expressly denies liability and assumes no responsibility for the conduct of Mentoring Organizations or individuals working with Mentoring Organizations listed through the Mentoring Connector. While MENTOR National may reserve the right to screen or conduct background checks on individuals or Mentoring Organizations registered with the Mentoring Connector, Mentor Florida does not conduct such screenings and is not obligated to do so.
You agree that you bear all risks associated with using any information from Mentor Florida’s website and any interactions with Mentoring Organizations found through the Mentoring Connector. This includes, but is not limited to, joining Mentoring Organizations, visiting their facilities, and meeting with mentors, mentees, or other individuals.
In the event anyone is harmed in any way by a Mentoring Organization or an individual associated with a Mentoring Organization, you hereby release Mentor Florida, its officers, employees, agents, and successors from any claims, demands, and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind or nature, known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected, disclosed or undisclosed, arising out of or related to such incidents or interactions facilitated by the Mentoring Connector.

The Mentor Florida website may provide interactive features that allow users to provide feedback and interact with other users. Each user is responsible for the content they post in community areas such as bulletin boards, forums, and chat rooms. Mentor Florida is not responsible for the accuracy or integrity of third-party content and is not liable for any damages caused by messages posted in community forums. Mentor Florida has no obligation to monitor these areas but reserves the right to remove any posts at its sole discretion. Additionally, Mentor Florida reserves the right to disclose any information necessary to comply with laws, regulations, or governmental requests.
By using Mentor Florida’s website and services, you agree not to:
(a) Restrict or inhibit any other user from using or enjoying Mentor Florida’s website or services.
(b) Post or transmit any unlawful, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane, or indecent content, including content that encourages conduct constituting a criminal offense or civil liability.
(c) Post or transmit any content that infringes on the rights of others, including privacy rights, copyrights, trademarks, or other proprietary rights, without the owner’s permission.
(d) Post or transmit any content that contains a virus, malware, or other harmful component.
(e) Exploit or use the website for commercial or advertising purposes without Mentor Florida’s express written approval.
(f) Advertise or solicit others to buy/sell products or services, or request donations of any kind, without Mentor Florida’s express written approval.
(g) Gather or use email addresses or personal information posted by other users for marketing purposes.
(h) Disregard directions from administrators or moderators. Refusing to comply with such requests may result in the removal of user accounts.

Hyperlinks to the Mentor Florida website may not state or imply any Mentor Florida sponsorship or endorsement of another website, publication, or service. Mentor Florida’s content may not be incorporated into another website, publication, or service without Mentor Florida’s prior written approval.

Mentor Florida reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or delete portions of these Terms of Use at any time without further notice. Changes to these Terms of Use will be posted on this page and will indicate the date these terms were last revised at the top of the page.
Continued use of the Mentor Florida website after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms of Use. If you do not agree to abide by these or any future Terms of Use, do not use or access (or continue to use or access) the Mentor Florida website. It is your responsibility to regularly check the website to review any changes to these Terms of Use.

These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and Mentor Florida regarding the use of the Mentor Florida website, superseding any prior agreements between you and Mentor Florida. The failure of Mentor Florida to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms of Use shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
Use of the Mentor Florida website and registration to be listed in the Mentoring Connector is void where prohibited. If any provision of these Terms of Use is held invalid, the remainder of these Terms of Use shall continue in full force and effect. If any provision is deemed unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
